Day 1

7:30AM departure Friday October 12, 2018

Today we are off to visit the famous Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York.  Nearly 2 million years ago glaciers moved across the area leaving behind eleven long narrow lakes which resemble long fingers, hence the name. We first arrive to the Corning Museum of Glass which is dedicated to the art, history, and science of glass. It is also where we will have a hot lunch waiting for us in a private room.  After lunch we will be treated to a private 90-minute tour of the famous museum and observe the art of glassmaking.  Then we will learn how to sandblast glass with a hands-on demonstration, and you can bring home your creation as a memento of your trip to Corning.

Then we are off to our resort hotel for the next 2-nights Hope Lake Lodge and Indoor Water at Greek Peak Mountain Resort. This “green” upstate hotel is beautifully situated on Hope Lake in the Virgil Valley, with panoramic views in every direction.  This lodge is designed to capture the rustic charm of life.

Day 2

Saturday October 13, 2018

Today wear comfortable shoes because we have packed a lot into one day! Our step-on guide today will show us the beauty and tell us the history of the region.  We will be getting off to see one of the magnificent waterfalls (don’t worry not too much or strenuous walking). The Finger Lakes area is New York's largest wine producing region. Over 100 wineries and vineyards are located around them.  Because of the lakes' great depth, they provide a lake effect to the lush vineyards that flank their shores. But alas we will only have time to visit 2 of them.  We will also visit the Seward House, the estate of Henry William Seward who was not only governor of New York but also as Secretary of State under President Lincoln purchased a little piece of property for the United States known as Alaska.

Dinner is on your own today in Ithaca, NY
Breakfast and Lunch Included/ 2 wine tastings

Day 3

Sunday October 14, 2018

After breakfast today, we check out of our hotel and start heading for home, but not too fast since we still have a lot to see.  First, we will stop to pay our respects at the gravesite of Samuel Clemens otherwise known as Mark Twain.  In tribute to the writer, we will leave a pen at his grave as is the custom.  Then we will proceed to Cooperstown, New York and visit the Baseball Hall of Fame Museum before driving home.
